Description

Rhipsalis burchellii, Coral or Mistletoe Cactus is an epiphytic cactus from Brazil growing in moist forest in the Southern Atlantic states of São Paulo, Paraná, Espírito Santo and Santa Catarina to elevations of 900m above sea level. It has a multi-branched habit with small cylindrical stems and tiny hair-like spines. The stems of Rhipsalis burchellii are somewhat stouter the Rhipsalis cereuscula. It develops a pendant habit over time and is ideal as a houseplant in a hanging-basket and can be kept outdoors during the summer months but care is needed to makes sure it only gets indirect light or it will turn pinkish-red in the sun.

Rhipsalis burchellii has small white flowers that are followed by rose-magenta coloured berries.
