Epimedium pinnatum subsp. colchicum, Colchian Barrenwort is a ground-covering Epimedium from the Caucasus to the west of the Caspian Sea. An evergreen Epimedium, it has attractive dense pinnate foliage that has coppery tinges in autumn and exotic-looking yellow flowers with brown spurs in the Spring.
An ideal hardy ground-cover for a shady or semi-shady location, preferring a moist humus-rich soil but tolerating dry shade. A good planting companion with ferns and other exotic woodlanders like Trillium, Polygonatum and Arisaema.
