Canna coccinea 'Bonfire' is a species cultivar with very bright fiery-red flowers with long narrow staminodes which give it an elegant, refined and very delicate appearance. The stems are dark purplish-red, often with a silvery-blue powdery bloom to them and the seed pods also mature to a dark purplish-red maroon colour. The foliage is green with some purple colouration and the margins have an attractive edging of purplish-red. Canna coccinea 'Bonfire' is a desirable Canna reaching about 1.5m and with its delicate flower is a perfect foil to the larger-flowering hybrid groups.
