Polystichum makinoi, Makino's Holly Fern, is an exceptionally beautiful hardy fern from Asia with tawny brown stipes and contrasting green pinnae. The bipinnate fronds have a glossy sheen to them and each individual pinnule ends in a holly-like tip. The overall impression is similar to Polystichum polyblepharum but more delicate.
