Trillium sessile, Toadshade, is another desirable woodlander producing its gorgeous and subtle flowers in early Spring, usually in late March or early April in the UK. Its three-petaled maroon flowers sit atop three thin sepals and three leaves that are usually mottled in unique splotches. Some of these variations can be very choice.
Trillium sessile requires a fully or partially shaded aspect and a humus-rich soil into which plenty of leaf mold has been added and which is both moist yet well-drained.
