Miscanthus sinensis 'Ferner Osten' is a particularly graceful cultivar of Miscanthus sinensis with tall graceful arching foliage and producing in the summer, feathery plumes of attractive pinkish-purple flower spikes. As autumn develops the foliage turn yellow and orange and the flower panicles turn to silvery tufts. Leaving these skeletal shapes throughout the winter creates interest and a bold contrasting texture that shimmers in the breeze and will glisten in the frost.
Miscanthus sinensis 'Ferner Osten' is a vigourous grass but like 'Miscanthus 'Morning Light' is of modest size and will only reach about 1.5m gradualy forming an attractive arching clump.
