Colocasia esculenta 'Emerald' is a cultivar with a large attractive pale-green colouration in the middle of the leaf that extends down the midrib and - to a lesser extent - on either side of some of the veins. It does indeed resemble a jewel and is extremely beautiful. In the search for increasingly dramatic and bizarre Colocasia foliage the simple subtle gemlike qualities of 'Emerald' may be overlooked. A mistake, in my opinion; look closely at each individual leaf and a universe will open up and leads you gently to a sense of wonder. This is no look-at-me diva but rather a calm and subtle presence that invites you in, that quietly shares the many facets of its exquisite beauty and rewards you more and more the deeper you look.

Highy recommended
