Colocasia esculenta 'Black Stem' is a Colocasia clone with a medium-large stature, purple-black stems, defined angular foliage and a remarkably stoloniferous habit. It is very attractive and similar to the clone known as 'Fontanesi' except it it does not have glossy leaves. The foliage has a chiselled sagittate shape and a characteristic dark purple spot at the point above where the petiole joins the leaf. Many long snake-like stolons are produced throughout the summer and each one will root and form another plant. Keep warm and dry over winter during dormancy.
