Lilium lancifolium, the Tiger Lily, is a native to Japan, China, and Korea and was a favourite of the Victorian exotic gardeners for its reliable floral display. Lilium lancifolium 'Flore Pleno' is the double flowering form. A tall species, easily growing to 2m in height it can benefit from support if grown in a windy aspect. Its tubers are edible and have been culitvated in Asia for that purpose for thousands of years.
