Allium carinatum ssp pulchellum is an exceptionally beautiful Allium from the Mediterranean and Caucasus. It has loose umbels of lilac-pinkish-purple flowers that hang gracefully on the ends of long pedicels. The informal structure of the flowering umbel is perfect for when you are looking for a bold-coloured Allium that doesn't have the more formal-looking spherical shape. It makes a strong contrast to the yellow of the similarly-flowered Allium flavum.
