Description

Dracaena draco subsp. draco, Canary Island Dragon Tree is a legendary plant that - because it is just on the wrong side of hardy - is not very frequently encountered in the UK. It makes a wonderful plant for a large container but in all but the most exceptional circumstances should not be considered for growing outdoors through the UK winter. It does well outside in the summer in full sun and then the container can be brought back in around the beginning of October. A wondeful and eye-arresting conservatory plant although in mild areas and in mild winters it will be ok in an unheated glasshouse under several layers of fleece. Most of the time it appears to thrive on neglect and its drought-tolerant qualities are fabled yet during a hot summer it will do even better if given regular waterings and - dare I say it - the occasional liquid feed.

A collector's plant - not really one for the beginner. Very limited quantities of chunky seed-grown specimens in 3 litre pots.
