Trillium grandiflorum, White Wakerobin, is a beautiful woodland spring ephemeral with green foliage producing three-petalled, veined, white flowers in early April that characteristically have a nodding habit and from which protrude long yellow anthers.

Trillium grandiforum requires a moist but not water-logged or soggy substrate that is rich in humus and leaf-mold. In the UK it is best grown in dappled light, ideally planted with other woodland plants and under a deciduous canopy. Slow-growing, it takes it time to form a clump but a well-grown colony is one of those simple joys that only a gardener can know.
