Dicentra formosa 'Bacchanal' has deep wine-red heart-shaped flowers and deeply cut fern-like foliage. A cultivar of the American species, Dicentra formosa from the Pacific Coast of Canada and USA, it requires a humus-rich but well-drained soil in a sheltered shady spot.
