Globba schomburgkii, Dancing Girl Ginger, is a small ginger from the Himalayas through to Southern Yunnan and extending into Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It grows to about 80cm in height with large bright-green foliage and in late-summer produces dainty racemes of densely-packed yellow flowers that dangle in an attractive pendulous manner. Often, bulbils will form progressively from the base of the flowering raceme.

Globba schomburgkii is an easy ginger to grow but is tender in the UK and needs to be overwintered indoors. As the foliage dies down in the autumn it can either be dug up and the rhizome stored dry indoors or, if grown in a pot, the container can be brought indoors and stored in a frost-free environment.
