Cobaea scandens, Cup and Saucer Vine, is a vigourous climber from Mexico with attractive pinnate foliage and a stunning bell-shaped fragrant flower that starts a creamy-green colour then turns progressively purple. A frost-tender plant, it is usually grown as an annual in the UK and quickly grows to a large size, needing a strong structure to support it. If grown in a large container it can be chopped back in the autumn and moved into a conservatory for the winter.
