Allium caeruleum, Blue Allium, is endemic to the dry well-drained plains of Central Asia where it grows to elevations of 2300m above sea level. It is not the only blue flowering species of Allium but it is the most well-known, forming umbels of small tight azure globes throughout June and July. These highly attractive umbels often form bulblets amongst the densely-packed flowers.
