Description

Xanthosoma saggittifolium, Tannia or Arrowleaf Elephant's Ear, is an important agricultural crop of tropical America and is cultivated over a wide geographical location both in the Americas and worldwide throughout the tropics. Its enormous quick-growing foliage creates a bold, dramatic and very tropical effect when used as an ornamental in the exotic garden. Like Xanthosoma violaceum (which is now considered a synonym) it is tender in the UK and needs to be over-wintered indoors in a frost-free environment.
