Tigridia pavonia 'Aurea' is a yellow-flowered cultivar of Tigridia pavonia, Mexican Tiger Flower. A bulbous perennial from Central America, it has tall foliage and stunning pale gold flowers with pink spots in the centre, sometimes with a white background.
Tigridia pavonia 'Aurea' flowers from throughout the summer with each flower lasting just a day or sometimes a little longer with flowers following in succession until late summer. It requires a sunny aspect and a well-drained gritty soil. Both the foliage and the flowers grow quite tall and are vulnerable to strong winds so the plants are best located in a sheltered location.
