Description

Sempervivum arachnoideum, Spider Houseleek, is probably the most beautiful of all the Sempervivum species. Its upper surfaces are wrapped in silky threads as if entrapped by the actions of some deluded spider, creating a strikingly different visual impression. Readily forming numerous offsets and creating a low carpet of cobweb-encased rosettes it is ideal for green-roofs or establishing in the crevices of roof-tiles. Likewise, it is at home in the nooks and crannies of dry-stone walls or rockery features.

Sempervivum arachnoideum needs little in the way of care. Full sun and a well drained soil - if you do actually grow it in soil - is all that's required. If its grown as a lithophyte or on a roof it just needs a small handful of soil to extract some goodness from. It doesn't come more undemanding than that!
