Juncus effusus 'Spiralis', Corkscrew Rush, is a highly ornamental form of the Common Soft Rush with tightly twisted stems that spiral upwards in an attractive corkscrew manner. Grown as a specimen it makes an ideal container plant where its elegant growth can be cultivated and seen to greater effect but it is also well-suited to the garden and in particular, any moist location especially around a waterway or pond as a marginal.

The Corkscrew Rush is a tough plant capable of surviving extreme sub-zero temperatures throughout the UK winter. It is generally evergreen but under very cold temperatures it may lose condtion with some individual reeds turning the plant brown until the Spring regrowth.

Although Juncus effusus 'Spiralis' is the botanical name generally recognised both by gardeners and in the horticultural trade there is a certain amount of taxonomic confusion over its correct name. As well as the large number of synonyms it already possesses some authorities recently renamed it as a form of Juncus decepiens.
