Centaurea macrocephala, Giant Knapweed, is an enormous architectural Knapweed from the Caucasus that grows to 2m and bears bright lemon-yellow florets on top of a large brown spherical-shaped involucre. It's one of those head-turning plants that if you havn't seen it before, commands your attention and make you want to know what it is. Its large size means that it isn't as often seen as it should be as it requires a garden big enough to accommodate it.

Centaurea macrocephala is undemanding in its requirements but it flourishes in a sunny aspect with a dry, well-drained soil.

A bee-magnet, the pollinators can't get enough of it!
